About Sam Bischof

Oh look!

It’s Sam Bischof, looking angry like he does in most of his photos, even though he is smiling internally while trying to look cool for a new film he was working on.

Anyway, I’m a Photographer, Videographer, Digital Marketer, and licensed Drone Pilot based out of Mesa, Arizona.

This isn’t a fluffy about me section meant to sell you on my products and services. This is an actual about me section. So if you’re curious as to how I came to be in this world (minus the details on my actual conception and birth) then read on.

I was born in the Pacific Northwest. Oregon, to be exact. As a child, my family lived on a 10 acre property with no running water and no electricity. This made for an interesting start to my young life. But a start that I give a lot of credit to, because I think it was there that I fell in love with the outdoors. We moved all over the place throughout my childhood, eventually winding up in the southern part of New Mexico. Exploring this brand new desert landscape as a young teenager, blew my mind. It was so different than anything I was familiar with. Every plant and animal had evolved to live this rugged lifestyle void of water. It was nothing like the Pacific Northwest. I loved it. It was there that my love of the outdoors was truly cemented and would become a part of me forever.

Later on in life I would wind up in Arizona where I picked up my first camera. I bought it to make music videos for my band. I did exactly that. You can look at them if you want, but don’t judge me. They were my first projects. I quickly discovered that my fancy new DSLR not only took beautiful video, but it took beautiful photos, what it was intended to do actually. I fell in love with both formats and continued to explore my love of creating films and capturing beautiful images over the years to come.

In 2015 I started an e-commerce apparel brand and used the skills I had developed behind the camera to shoot all of our product photos. I also did all of our design work, because as it turns out, when something needs to be done, I prefer to just learn how to do it than to outsource it. We successfully sold that brand in 2018. Over the course of those 3 years I dove into Digital Marketing and have continued down that path ever since. I also fell in love with drones. More specifically FPV drones. If you haven’t heard of those, it stands for First Person View. You fly the drone from the drone’s perspective with a pair of dorky looking goggles that receive the live video feed your drone broadcasts. I had to build them myself, because it is not yet a hobby or profession that has fully hit the consumer market. But let me tell you this, it allows me to capture some of the most unique aerial footage you will ever see. There is nothing like strapping on a pair of goggles and sending your drone hurling off of a cliff.

Dammit. I said no fluffy stuff. Sorry.

You want the dirt. The juicy deets. Well I have more for you…

I met my wife on Tinder. Yeah that dating app that everyone said was for hookups. We’ve been married since October of 2015 and we have two amazing little boys, Ranger and Rusty.

And that about brings you to modern day Sam in 1,000 words or less. These days you can find me exploring the great outdoors with my camera, or traveling with my family. And let’s be honest… sometimes just stuck behind a computer screen editing footage for hours on end.
